THUNDER BAY, ON - April 16, 2009 - The Hon. Geoff Regan, MP Halifax West and Liberal Natural Resources Critic, will be touring Northwestern Ontario April 16-17th.

Hon. Geoff Regan will participate in a Forestry Roundtable Thursday April 16, 2009 at the Travelodge Airlane Hotel, Thunder Bay. First Nations, municipal, labour and academic representatives from across Northwestern Ontario will discuss the current state of forestry, the forest industry, and their impact on residents.

Anthony Rota, MP Nipissing-Timiskaming and Vice Chair of the Industry, Science, and Technology Committee, will join Hon. Geoff Regan as they travel to Dryden and Kenora for further consultations with forestry industry leaders, before returning to Thunder Bay on Friday April 17th to tour the Abitibi-Bowater plant.  Liberal MPs are working with the forestry sector in Ontario and Quebec to develop solutions aimed at revitalizing the industry and creating new jobs in communities that urgently need them.
