EarthWise Thurnder Bay is happy to annouce a series of upcoming public input sessions.  Please share the following far and wide!

Community Stakeholder working groups will be presenting draft recommendations for making Thunder Bay a more sustainable community over the next three months.  The presentations are set begin on January 17th, and be held every Thursday evening until March 27th (with the exception of Feb 14th).   Sessions will focus on specific areas of concern such as energy, air quality, and pesticide use.  Each session will start with a presentation from the working group Chair and be followed by a facilitated public input session, giving attendees a chance to share their comments and ideas.

"EarthWise is about engaging citizens to create an Environmental Action Plan for Thunder Bay," said Charles Campbell, Chair of EarthWise.  "These open houses are one more opportunity for community members to bring their voices to the table and participate in developing an exciting and important action plan for the future of our city." All members of the public are encouraged to attend these sessions.

Since its inception, EarthWise Thunder Bay has received a Green Municipal Funds Grant from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, enlisted the support of over fifty community partners from all sectors, completed a Corporate Environmental Policy for the City of Thunder Bay, and most recently launched a new website that provides a forum for information exchange and public feedback on the Community Environmental Action Plan development process. EarthWise has also hired ICLEI Energy Services, to undertake a greenhouse gas emissions inventory of the City which was recently completed.

EarthWise Thunder Bay is a partnership between the City of Thunder Bay, and the community, including the residential, institutional, commercial and industrial sectors. Over 200 local volunteers are already participating in the EarthWise process to develop a Community Environmental Action Plan.
