 Greater Sudbury Police Service Amber Alert

November 2, 2007 A suspect and possible vehicle had been received through tips and information from the public and other police agencies. At approx. 8:30 p.m. November 1st , the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police located the suspect vehicle and subsequently located the accused and the newborn.

The accused arrested in this matter has been identified as Brenda Batisse, 19 years of age, who is known to reside in the Kirkland Lake area.

The child appears to be in good health and was apparently unharmed. The child has been taken to the Kirkland Lake Hospital for medical assessment. We are currently in the process of reuniting the child with her parents.

November 1, 2007  10:45 p.m A newborn snatched from a Sudbury hospital was back where she belonged late Thursday, ending a day-long Amber Alert that had authorities across the province looking for the child.

The baby girl appeared healthy but was examined by doctors as a precaution before being reunited with her parents, police said. A 19-year-old woman accused of taking the day-old child was arrested in the home where the baby was recovered in Kirkland Lake, a five-hour drive from Sudbury

November 1, 2007  Members of the Greater Sudbury Police Service continue to investigate a “non-familial abduction” of a child from the Sudbury Regional Hospital, St. Joseph site, 700 Paris Street, Sudbury, which occurred at approximately 1315 hours today.

Description of the suspect:Sudbury Person of Interest

- female, aboriginal, approx. 26 years of age, 5’6”, with long dark hair in a ponytail, wearing a white top and white pants and possibly a black sweater.

The newborn child (female, Caucasian) was wrapped in a white flannel blanket at the time of the abduction.

 

 

 

 

Abduction St. Josephs Hospital 
The Greater Sudbury Police Service is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a female suspect in a “non-familial abduction” of a child from the Sudbury Regional Hospital, St. Joseph site, 700 Paris Street, Sudbury.

Description of the suspect:

- female, aboriginal, approx. 26 years of age, 5’6”, with long dark hair in a ponytail, wearing a white top and white pants and possibly a black sweater.

The newborn child was wrapped in a white flannel blanket at the time of the abduction.

The suspect was on foot but may have accessed public transportation.
