THUNDER BAY, ON - MAY 23, 2008 – Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) staff spoke with youth
seeking information on career, education and training options at the North Superior Training Board’s sixth annual Regional Career and Job Fair in Thunder Bay on May 21 and 22, 2008.

Provincial Conservation Officer, Canine Handler Bryon Cosgrove demonstrated how his canine partner, Riggs, can uncover evidence by detecting fish hidden in a duffle bag. He can also uncover wildlife and firearms. The Labrador retriever-cross can also track violators and people who are lost, patrol borders and assist at ministry road check stations. The Investigative Support and Canine Services Unit enhances the enforcement capabilities of conservation officers and patrols more than 100 million square kilometers, protecting wildlife, lakes, rivers and forests in Ontario.
In addition, Jevon Hagens, GIS Analyst, Centre for Northern Forest Ecosystem Research (CNFER), Richard Hagdu, Bear Management Technician, Bear Wise program and Kyle Jackson, Summer Experience Program, talked with students from many schools, including Marathon and Red Lake.
