DULUTH, MN. - May 3, 2008 - Nine Duluthians have been nominated to receive the 83rd Duluth Hall of Fame Award, to be presented Friday, May 9 at the Greysolon Plaza Moorish Room.
Here is an alphabetical listing of the nominees with a sampling of their volunteer activities:
Peggy “Margaret” Anderson – nominated for service to the Junior League, National Breast Cancer Coalition, Safe Haven Shelter, Port City Woman of the Year, Teen Closet, Community Outreach Committee
·Tom Cartier – nominated for service to Mentor Duluth, West End Business Group, DAHA, Diabetes research
·Daniel Fanning – nominated for service to Men as Peacemakers, Duluth YMCA, Mentor Duluth, Duluth Boys and Girls Club, Five Points Program
·Jeanne Koneczny – nominated for service to Spirit Valley Citizen’s Neighborhood Development Association, Irving Community Club, Spirit Valley Event Committee, Project HOPE, Western Area Business and Civic Club
·Portia Johnson – nominated for service to the Clayton-Jackson-McGhie Memorial Committee, Battered Woman’s Shelter Board, Institute for African-American Awareness, Sixth Judicial District Racial Bias Task Force
·Bill Majewski – nominated for service to the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District, St. Louis River Association, District One Planning Board, Stowe School Advisory Board
·Earl Rogers – nominated for service to Duluth Sister Cities Commission, United Way of Greater Duluth, Salvation Army Board, Minnesota Hospital Association, American Red Cross
·Patrick Stojevich – nominated for service to the Boy Scouts of America, Special Olympics, St. Elizabeth’s Church, Gary-New Duluth Community Club
·Beverly Strongitharm – nominated for service to Duluth MS Support Group, St. Eligius Nursing Home, Y-Tac, Western Area Business and Civic Club
