The law firm of McTeague, Higbee, Case, Cohen, Whitney & Toker has filed a class action lawsuit in U.S. federal court, District of Maine, on behalf of Canadians who have been denied sales of automobiles by U.S.auto dealers. The manufacturers' policies prohibiting sales, or mandating less-favorable terms of sale, of vehicles to Canadians, and the dealers' denial of sales, violate State and federal anti-discrimination statutes that prohibit discrimination on the basis of nation of origin. These practices blatantly violate the civil rights of the impacted individuals, as well as the economic interests of both Canadians and Americans which are protected by the Sherman Anti-trust Act and NAFTA. more info.....>

Loonie hits 47-year high
The seemingly unstoppable Canadian dollar traded at a 47 1/2-year high Monday morning, hitting 104.54 cents US.
That's a gain of more than half a U.S. cent since last Friday as the currency hit a lofty level unseen since early 1960 – a time when John Diefenbaker was prime minister and John F. Kennedy was the new president of the United States.
The loonie has risen more than 18 cents US this year, as several factors converged to drive it to parity with its U.S. counterpart and beyond – including record-high oil prices and a weak U.S. greenback.
