The auction scheduled for 27 May, will put the 105MHz frequencies in the 2GHz band up for bidding.  The new allocations include 40MHz bandwidth specifically reserved for newcomers on the national stage.auction. Sadly Netscape passes into the history books

January 3, 2008 ~ It was only 15 years ago that the Netscape browser which opened up the entire Internet to mass use, is now effectively dead.

In October 1994, Netscape released Mosaic Netscape 0.9 and the Internet would never be the same. Anyone could install this browser on almost any operating system. 

People will still be able to download and use the Netscape browser indefinitely, but AOL, the company which now owns Netscape will stop releasing security and other updates on Feb. 1. Netscape Director Tom Drapeau recommended that the small pool of Netscape users download Firefox instead.   read more......>

Canada's Bernard James wins Natural Gas Vehicle World Champion Award in Brazil

THUNDER BAY, ON - June 18, 2008 - Former Government of Canada Chief of Transportation Technology recognized for leadership and innovation in alternative fuel vehicles

(Ottawa, ON, June 18, 2008)  Canada's Bernard James was one of four recipients of the NGV World Champion Award at the biennial International Association of Natural Gas Vehicles Conference held recently in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The awards recognize leadership in alternative fuel public policy, technology innovation, and  the advancement of the global natural gas vehicle industry. Mr. James held successive positions at Natural Resources Canada, serving as the Chief of Transportation Technology from 1992 to 1997. On behalf of the Government of Canada, he led the early stage research that laid the groundwork for many of Canada's leading gaseous fuel transportation technology companies.   read more...>

Who owns your photos when posted on Flicker.

According to a story on MSNBC people who post there photos on Flicker the Yahoo's photo sharing website are asked  how they want to license their photos. In the case of Alison Chang's   youth counselor, he chose a sharing license from Creative Commons that allows others to reuse work such as photos without violating copyright laws, if they credit the photographer and say where the photo was taken.
