The Circle of Angels program funds the activities of the Linda Buchan Centre for Breast Screening & Assessment in Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY, ON - June 24, 2008 - The Toronto star is reporting that two dogs died Monday night after drinking deliberately poisoned water at High Park on the weekend. One of the animals was euthanized and the other succumbed to its symptoms at the Veterinary Emergency Clinic at Yonge St. and Davenport Rd.
Toronto police suspect the poisoning of at least six dogs in the park is connected to a debate over the rights of dog owners to unleash their pets in the park. read more...>

Norbert Graf, 50, pleaded guilty to possessing an over limit of lake trout, resulting in a $3,000 fine. Graf also pleaded guilty to using an extra line while ice fishing and was fined $150. read more...>

Late last week, in response to the intense activity of the Ontario Forestry Coalition across Northwestern Ontario (and a media conference at Queens Park) a group of environmentalists under the banner of SOS (Save Our Species) issued a letter (attached) to the Premier calling on the Ontario Government to ‘save the caribou’ and not give the forest industry a one year extension to the implementation of the Species at Risk Act. In the letter they listed 44 environmental organizations who signed the letter. Interestingly there was only one from the Northwest (Rainy River) and it is a Field Naturalist club. read more...>

(Ottawa, ON, June 18, 2008) Canada's Bernard James was one of four recipients of the NGV World Champion Award at the biennial International Association of Natural Gas Vehicles Conference held recently in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The awards recognize leadership in alternative fuel public policy, technology innovation, and the advancement of the global natural gas vehicle industry. Mr. James held successive positions at Natural Resources Canada, serving as the Chief of Transportation Technology from 1992 to 1997. THUNDER BAY, ON - June 13, 2008 - Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officers checked anglers at tourist camps along the Highway 105 corridor, south of Ear Falls on June 5 and 6, 2008.
Six conservation officers from Kenora, Red Lake and Dryden districts visited 25 tourist camps and checked 21 Ontario residents and 199 non-residents. They laid 16 charges, mostly for over limits of fish and issued 25 warnings, mostly for improper packaging of fish. read more...>
